I was born in a small town at the foot of the mountains in Bulgaria, known for its artisan crafts. As a child, I watched my mother create colorful handwoven quilts and my aunt paint serene landscapes. I also enjoyed spending time with my grandfather in his woodworking shop, where I developed an early appreciation for design and craftsmanship.
After college, together with my wife we moved to the United States, where we settled in Saint Louis and I spent many years working in engineering and construction. In my spare time, I continuously pursued my passion for art, whether it was pencil drawings or experimenting with brushed metal, wood, and plaster to create abstract sculptures.
The medium that truly captured my heart is nails hammered into wood. This unconventional approach allows me to explore the depth of human expression, the intricate beauty of nature, and the spirit of animals in a uniquely tactile way. Each piece is meticulously crafted with thousands of nails, creating stippled images that incorporate a third dimension to capture the subtle interplay of light and shadow. Through this original technique, I aim to transform everyday materials into unique artistic expressions, turning simple nails into rich and vibrant artworks.
